A WEEK OF CHRISTMAS

For the next seven days I'll be posting pics from our week at the central coast and other places.  I visited several places that had Christmas scenes or nice gift shops.

These are some photos from Cambria's "Festival of Lights.  My great niece Hannah posed for me in one of the photos.  In fact, she posed quite a bit for photos while we were hanging out with her one day.  She is definitely fun to be around.

We went the first night it opened.  What a beautiful night it was.  I probably wouldn't go every year but glad we got to see it once.

Cambria, Ca is up near San Simeon where Hearst Castle is.  It's a beautiful area to visit and the coast gets more rugged and beautiful as you head north  - not far from here is Big Sur.

This is so interesting to look at I wanted it on my blog.  This one is someone's back yard not a front porch photo.  I was looking at "notable" people on Wikipedia who lived in Covina.  Several famous athletes came from Covina and Vince Neil from Motley Crue lived in Covina. I love to google famous people who came from some of the towns I've lived in including my two home towns - Kansas City and Covina, Ca.  

I want to add to my daily front porch post - other photos that I want on my blog - so I'll add a few from other places with each post.

These are from the central coast -

The zebras are from an area right near Hearst Castle in San Simeon - in fact they are part of the wildlife that lives there.  I have more photos but I think I'll just post a few here and there to get them up.

The sunset and pelicans were from our last visit in July.

We had a wonderful meal at a restaurant sitting outside overlooking this scene below.  Spyglass Inn is the name of the restaurant.

DAILY FRONT PORCH CLAREMONT and MORE COAST PHOTOS FROM OUR LATEST TRIP IN JULY

A very small front porch but very appealing entrance.

A trend for at least the last ten years in Claremont has been to go the drought tolerant direction in yards.  I find these yards so much more interesting to look at than a manicured lawn.  A lot of the people that live in Claremont are artists and you can see their work in some of the yards (sculptures) The house next door to this house has quite a few interesting pieces but I'm not sure I can find the photos.   This one always appeals to me when I walk by - the color they chose for the stucco and the plants they have.

And now for some more Central Coast (Pismo, Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo area)...
