BECAUSE OF LIMITED BANDWIDTH I CAN ONLY POST A FEW AT A TIME

My granddaughter Holly and my oldest son, Joel - visiting from San Francisco.  Their Au Pair (nanny) is in background.  Her name is Bruna and she is from Brazil - very sweet girl.

Holly finding something funny - not sure what was making her smile.  I think it was her cousin Cayden doing something goofy.

THE FAMILY THAT MOVED TO BEND

After living together for a year with my son and his family I find I really miss Mac and Jake.

I'm always happy when they send me pics.

Here they are after a visit to Mt. Bachelor in Bend, Oregon - and there is still snow at end of July.

My little Jake.

They have my other grandson Hunt - with them, who lives down here.

All of them will be coming back to town around August 9, as they have a wedding to attend.

I'll see the grandkids again!

I miss you Mac!

A BIRD TAKING A BATH

I keep seed on a plate and water in a bowl on a table on the deck.  This pretty bird was enjoying itself.

Enjoying my son and his family who are here.

Yesterday we spent the day at the country club but i haven't taken the pics off the camera yet.

NUNS IN TOWN

there are several nuns who i see walking around the neighborhoods.  They are associated with our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church - which is just down the street from us.

They intrigue me - When i was a young Catholic school girl, i remember having fleeting thoughts of being a  nun - doesn't every little Catholic girl?

We were walking up near the Country Club and we passed them going down.  We said hello - and i told them they reminded me of my childhood.  One said, I hope that isn't a bad thing...ha.

I waited until they were past us to take their pic.

Then later in the day we finally found where they live - we were driving on Edna St - just below where we live and there must have been about 10 of them out on their deck having a barbecue.

I'm still intrigued - i want to know more about their "humanity" - like what do they do behind closed doors - get a poker game going  or....i'm just so curious.

SUCH A FRIENDLY BIRD

While my sister and her family were here, we had a bird visit who allowed me to pick it up.  I thought it was injured or sick and couldn't fly.  I discovered it could fly as soon as i took a photo and didn't realize the flash option was on and quickly it flew away.  It came back later a second time and i picked it up and got a close up photo.

I had a nice visit with the family and my sis' granddaughter and my grandson played together, did some art and swam at the lake.

I picked up a cold or flu - i think it was the flu because of muscle aches and fever, while they were here but i think i'm on the mend and am feeling a little better today.

Getting sick again made me think i need to get back to meditating- something i use to do every day and then got busy and let it go several years ago.

I'm posting a video from Deepak Chopra's Youtube list where  i think i'll visit often and get into the silence.  Somehow the bird photo got posted below the video.

here is the video - it's very relaxing and not long at all.

I MISS MY LITTLE JAKE

I don't necessarily miss all the noise he could make, ha....but i miss his face and his smile.

I miss his hugs - they were good - like a grown person can hug - tight and then pat pat pat on the back.

We never did go to the Abbey - my husband got sidetracked in a great way - diagnosed the problem with the swamp cooler, located the part, fixed the part - cleaned out the whole thing with the shop vac after evidently years of non use and it is working and keeping the house cool - yeah....we will go next week to the Abbey - will give us something to do.

Company is coming today - so i'm looking forward to spending time with my sister and her husband and granddaughter Hannah.  Hopefully we will get Cayden to night - so he will be Hannah's playmate until Sunday.  I know they will both enjoy the lake.

OUT EXPLORING

And will be out again today - I think we are going to a place in Valerymo (sp) called St. Andrews Abby.

here is the LINK

Or down Pear Blossom Highway to see what's out there - I know there are a lot of antique stores.

We've been busy around here, so today is going to be a "play" day I think.

CATCHING A FROG AT THE LAKE

We went to the pool/lake with Cayden and he enjoyed it a lot

Later we saw polywogs in the water.

where there is polywogs, there are frogs and Cayden found one that he played with for awhile.

Afterward we left the lake we cleaned up and went to Target to get him a boogy board for some more fun today.

Cute frog!

There are some big pine trees that provide lots of shade if one wants to avoid the sun.  I really enjoyed sitting there in the shade and we ended up being there for about 3 hours yesterday.

Looking forward to another day at the pool today.

A GEM OF A YARD

In Wrightwood most yards are left in their original natural state and rarely do you see one really done up into a beautiful garden.  When I see one it makes me want to pot some plants and see if I can make the yard where I'm at more interesting.

We just have dirt and since I brought about 15 pots that I had put in storage when we moved from my big house after selling - I'm anxious to get them planted and make a garden in the front yard.  I probably already would have started this project but since my elbow isn't completely healed and my range of motion is so limited, this will have to wait.

But....I can at least search out the yards that have gardens so I can enjoy them.  This is just a tiny section of the yard I came across while walking.  I had to stick the camera between a the posts of a rod iron fence to take the photo.  Next time I'll focus on a different part of the yard.  I love the little elves (hahaha, I just typed elbows instead of elves and had to change it)......frolicing on the chair in the right hand side of the pic.

All I have in my front yard is a faded statue of a raccoon, an owl, two little faded turtles and a gnome.

We have our grandson Cayden up for a few days so I know he'll help me feed the birds which is something he likes to do - put the seed out..

Have a great weekend.  Our temps today should be in the 80's.
