A FEW PRETTY PHOTOS OF CEDAR GLEN

Cedar Glen is a small community which is part of Lake Arrowhead.  I discovered the area when we first moved here - an area with lots of land around the cabins which appeals to me, and at the end of the road there is a trail that goes for six miles or so where you finally end up at Deep Creek.  I'm hoping to do that trail maybe in the fall - I think I've waited to long and now we will be heating up so probably won't try it in the summer.  There are so many trails we have yet to discover.

On the way to the trail head you pass some scenery with houses dotted on the hills.

ELK LAKE (PART OF THE CASCADE LAKES ROUTE)

Elk Lake is situated near the  South Sisters, Broken Top and Mt. Bachelor mountain ranges.  When we were in Bend at the beginning of May we took a day trip here.  Although there was still snow on the ground as we drove up most of it had melted at the lake and the temps were fairly warm.  What a gorgeous place to spend a few hours.

Mac learned how to skip rocks - they all enjoyed balancing on the felled (Is felled a word?) tree trunks and I walked around while they were down at the shore line taking some pics.

It hardly seems like a month has passed since we were there.

Found out my oldest son will be moving to an area around Gig Harbor, Washington.  I've googled it and will be excited to visit the area.  They live in San Francisco but just sold their home and will be moving around the middle of July.  I'm glad my kids move to beautiful places (..well two sons do the other two live within an hour of where we live).

THE LUSH FOREST

With all the fog, moisture, rain and some snow we have had this past spring - the forest is looking really healthy.  It's nice to see.

Two hummingbirds hang around this tree that's right off the deck - there are feeders up by the window so on days we're inside they're fun to watch.

I don't regularly visit that many blogs - only a handful but in the last month several people I visit are either taking blog breaks or quitting blog world altogether.

Not sure why it is happening but i'll miss their posts. Every one needs a break no doubt - maybe it has to do with spring.

I saw this bear the other day up on the highway near a sandwich shop.

I always love driving from Blue Jay through Agua Fria (this tiny area) back to where I live.  I don't think there is a time we drive through that I don't take a picture of this area and it's ....about 7 or 8 shops.

THE LEMONADE STAND IN BEND

I remember when my own kids had a lemonade stand when they were little.   Being in Bend a few weeks back and having the grandkids and their friends do a lemonade stand on one side of the street (boys) and selling water across the street (girls) was a competition that was really fun to watch.   Each stand brought in some money- enough to make them happy and the proceeds were going to pay for them to get their yogurt with tasty toppings at All Mixed Up - down the street from the park (which is where I hung out a lot with the grandkids).

The neighborhood is filled with kids and in the center is Compass Park - There are four or so streets with entrances to the park  - and it's designed with a compass in mind.  The boys were at one of the entrances to the park and the girls was in front of one of their houses across the street.

The girls had a good set up with a big table.

My granddaughter MacKenzie.

The boys on the other hand, had a small desk out of Jake's bedroom and a cash register, a lemonade sign and Jake's favorite sign of all his "Open/Closed" sign.

The guy with the helmet is my grandson Hunter who lives with us now - and Jakey is the little guy.  The kid in the middle just moved in next door to them.

It was really funny - when the girls heard the boys were having a lemonade stand - they immediately began to plot to take business away from them.  Girls can be conniving and wow...did they have a gleeful time taking business away from the guys.

I didn't get photos of all the action taking place but there were quite a few people who stopped by and gave both groups their business.

The lemonade was very tasty - I bought a few cups.  One guy said he would have bought it but since it was a powered lemonade mix - he declined.  He wanted all organic ingredients, lol.

Jakey is serious about getting customers - he was quite vocal - " Come and get your lemonade...great lemonade right here - come and get it.

Hey wait a minute - I just noticed a bottle of water at his little stand - did he cross over into enemy territory and make a purchase.

He looks forlorn here - but this was just a moment in time.  Actually - he loves his sign and would stop and spend a moment with it quite often.  He also has an open and closed sign that lights up when you plug it in - such as you see in a store - and every day he puts it in the window of his bedroom with the open sign on and at night turns it around to indicate the house hold is closed.
