We were walking up near the Country Club and we passed them going down. We said hello - and i told them they reminded me of my childhood. One said, I hope that isn't a bad thing...ha.
I waited until they were past us to take their pic.
Then later in the day we finally found where they live - we were driving on Edna St - just below where we live and there must have been about 10 of them out on their deck having a barbecue.
I'm still intrigued - i want to know more about their "humanity" - like what do they do behind closed doors - get a poker game going or....i'm just so curious.

Call on them. They would enjoy the visit, I'm sure. Clearly, they aren't cloistered what with walking out and bbq'ing.
There is a convent just three houses away from me. I feel blessed to have them near me. I know them from when my mom was alive.
P.S. Love seeing them in the old habits. We need these touchstones of humility in our lives.
Depends on the order. I have a good friend who is a nun. Each year for Christmas, I give her a bottle of Bailey's. I went to her Jubilee (50th year as a nun). There were hundreds of nuns there and believe me, they can party and make a lot of noise. She, my friend, is a most joyful person.
We provide hospice services to a group of cloistered nuns. They're much more sedate, but truly lovely women.

Wonderful to see that sight! It's not every day (or ever since childhood) that I've even seen a nun in the habit similar to the ones they wore when we were in school. There is something peaceful about seeing that!

Most of the nuns I know are just wonderful...but I have heard stories about getting hit with rulers and such from other friends who went to Catholic schools when they were little in the 50's and 60's. The nuns I know enjoy games and fun and are great to be around.
