A HOUSE IN RIVERSIDE

Yesterday we were in Riverside and I love driving or walking depending on the weather, through the neighborhoods.  It was hot - about 95 or so -...so we took care of business and then drove near the park we use to take the grandkids to.

I have photos in the past of this house and yesterday it looked exactly the same as it did 5 or years ago - maybe the bushes are higher now.

The neighborhoods around the park are beautiful and then there is the park where a lot of drug buying and selling use to go on.

FIRST HOUSE  is the one taken back in 2010 or so.

Heading into a heat wave next week and then monsoonal weather which means humidity.

These were taken 07/16/16/

A BEAUTY OF A HOUSE - RIVERSIDE CA, AND HUMMERS ON MY MIND

I've been watching the hummingbirds at the feeders lately and remembered how much I enjoyed going to Keller Peak Fire Watch Lookout Station and seeing the hummingbirds from up high.  I think when fall comes and before they close the gates that allows people to drive up the roads to this area (they close them in winter due to snow and bad road conditions).... I will make another trip there.

There is some good hiking trails and the best part is a trip to the lookout point.  I know I've posted these before but not sure if I have posted them on this blog.

WINTER AND SPRING - SAME HOUSE BUT IT'S BEEN PAINTED - WHICH DO YOU LIKE BEST.

A few months back (I take photos every time we pass this house in Twin Peaks)  I noticed the house had been painted.  I wonder if it is the same owners or if someone else bought it.  I rather like the red trim - which one do you like?  I also have a photo of the new paint on the house in the snow - the first pic was taken in winter of 2014 and the second one spring of 2016.

This Acorn Woodpecker stopped by the other day and when he bent down for food I could see the beautiful patterns of his feathers.

I came across this video of a beach area I haven't been to in years - my sister lived here in the 70's.  It's a drone going over the Wednesday Sunset series of sailboats.  I now know I need to visit there on a Wednesday.  I'm sad that we are actually going to be at the coast tomorrow - but not where this is taking place and also it would be  too late.  I saw where the sunset sailboat series is starting again for 2016.   Anyway if anyone does choose to watch it, it's definitely beautiful in full screen when the video gets to the part of the sailboats in front of the setting sun.

A CLUSTER OF HOMES - THE NEW WAY OF LIVING

This is a really nice area of houses but I don't think I'd like living this close to my neighbor.
These are in  the area right beyond this first house  and built in a circle where in the middle is grass.  They are very pretty but very close.  I can't imagine sitting out on my front porch and being so close to someone I may not want to have to talk too.  When I do sit outside I tend to do so for the nature around me not the people.  That sounds so bad, lol.  This area is near the train tracks - in San Luis Obispo.  It was a beautiful walk the day we went there.

The way I love to photographs birds - people would probably think I was aiming my camera at them on their porches.  I just would not fit in here at all.

FRONT PORCH POST - ACROSS TOWN AND SOME SCENES AROUND HERE

Some mountain scenes on our way to Running springs for pizza and pool.   It was so beautiful the other day.  Everything was fresh and green and smelled just like mountains should smell.

Santa's Village my photo below,  is in the process of being rehab'd.    In 1955 it opened up in Sky Forest (which is just a few miles up the highway).  It was a winter themed amusement park and opened just a month before Disneyland opened.  The builders opened two more Santa's Village - one in Illinois and another in California in a different area.   It had kiddie rides, monorail, bobsled rides, Ferris wheel, petting zoo live reindeer and several shops.  Because of decreasing revenue it closed down in March of 1998.  So that makes it 16 years ago that it has sat there not being used.

It was sold thee years later and severed as a staging area for local logging operations (all info came from wikipedia)...  It was purchased in June 2014 and is going to open as Sky Park and scheduled to open this year.  I

Here is a photo which I guess is from the 50's.  We really didn't live that far away when my kids were young - now I wonder why we never took them there.  They went to Disneyland every year because my husband''s employer rented out the park once a year for employees and their families.

When we got to the pizza place these two dogs were in the back of a truck and I couldn't resist getting their photo - what isn't shown in this photo is the dog in back is missing his eye.   I'm always amazed that some dogs can be trusted to sit in the back of a truck and not run off.  I didn't see anybody in the truck.

Here is my grandson Hunter playing pool.

I was surprised to find he is pretty good at it - i had no idea he had ever played before. Maybe he is sneaking out at night and going down to town to practice;)

Just a few different looking buildings in the town of  Running Springs.

FRONT PORCH - PASO ROBLES - AND THE COLORS IN PASO DURING THE END OF JANUARY

Paso Robles is a beautiful town up the coast and a little inland from the beach areas I love to visit i.e., Pismo, Shell, Morro Bay, etc...  it's about a half hour up the 101 and then inland.   We walked through neighborhoods close to town when I was up there in January and the colors in some of the gardens - ...you wouldn't know that these were taken in winter....this garden in particular.

Paso can get really cold - freezing at times but the plants in this garden thrive in winter.

Also I love going to Rue's blog and if you would love to see her beautiful "retro" house take a look at this LINK.

She just put some fresh flowers in her kitchen and it is most beautiful.
