A CUTE PORCH I SAW IN CLAREMONT, CA
I have passed this house many times in the last 10 years or so - I have watched the plants start out as babies and grow big. I smile every time I see the pig mural on the wall. It's a charming house. It makes me want to skip whenever I see it. Immediately I feel
5-years-old again and wondering if the three pigs live here or if there is a wolf hiding in the bushes.
Spring is teasing us here in the mountains - it's been beautiful weather and no snow and we are out and about quite a bit. Hope all is well in your world.

FRONT PORCH POST - GLENDORA, CA
Glendora is described as a sleepy community nestled in the foothills. I lived and worked there in a few different places until I was 26. The area near their little downtown is a great place to walk if you like historical districts and old houses. We lived in an apartment and then bought a house in 1972/3. We lived there until my first son was 2. It is SO expensive to live there now. I would like to live in this area again but that isn't going to happen as far as I can see into the future.
These are some front porches of a few houses right near town. This is another area I would like to visit again - it's been seven years since we took this walk and I photographed these houses.

FRONT PORCH IN TWIN PEAKS
I need to get back to posting front porches because I have so many in my files.
I forget what I have and haven't posted so hope it's not a repeat.
Yesterday we drove by where the "Pilot" fire burned a month ago. It was very sad to see this huge area in the high desert burned out.
Next trip out will probably be through the area where the huge "Blue Cut" fire burned also within the last month.
This area below - you can see part of the mountains above his house in the distance were burned and this goes for miles and miles - but they saved so many structures. You can see the red retardant they used to control the fire and contain it so a lot of the surrounding desert was spared in this area.
Miles of land burnt through this area.

PUFFIN AND BENNIE - AND I HAVE TO POST THIS HOUSE IN EVERY SEASON
I've posted it before - but wanted to post it in summer - because in fall I'll get another pic - and snow-..and spring blooms... One of my favorites on the way to Lake Arrowhead.
And you will so enjoy this cute very short video if you follow the link here. Not only is it adorable but I love the colors in this room and the area rugs. I think I need to go shopping one of these days for a different area rug.

THOUGH I'VE POSTED IT BEFORE - THE GARDEN IN FRONT LOOKS ESPECIALLY BEAUTIFUL THIS YEAR. - FRONT PORCH
This house is down the end of the street and we usually turn left to go down to town so I pass it a lot.
Couldn't help but notice the beauty here lately.
I don't think I've ever seen anybody out here and if I have I don't remember. Her door is open with just the screen closed quite often. I always wonder if she sees me taking photos.

FRONT PORCH POST (not my photos)
I developed a hobby so to speak years ago after selling my house. I started looking online for rentals (since we decided we didn't want the hassle of ownership anymore).... Through the years it became a hobby more or less. Every day I spend some time looking online at rentals in areas I would like to live.
I like the retro look of the bathroom and kitchen. It didn't specify whether the place for rent was upstairs or downstairs.
I can't imagine living with two other families sharing a house.
This neighborhood is in one of the historical districts . We drove through a few nice areas the other day when we were in Riverside.
I found this older house the other day and loved the outside. It actually is three separate apartments and the one that is for rent is so cute and this 1 bedroom rents for 1250.00 a month. It is in the town of Riverside which has the famous Mission Inn which is beautiful.
The rents just keep going up and up in Southern California - it amazes me how much a 3 bedroom in any decent area not even desirable area rents for now. I saved off some pics because I love old houses but I thought whoever decorated this little (under 800 sq feet I believe) apartment used such pretty colors.
That poor palm tree needs someone to take off the dead fronds.

FRONT PORCH POST - ONTARIO, CA
Walking through a neighborhood I like - i saw these houses one day.
I call this house the Buddha house - very interesting what they have done with their yard.
A fast week it was - i suppose most people my age are dealing with the fact that a week is not like a week was when we were younger. Already trash day again and that JUST happened a few days ago it seems.
And a beautiful western bluebird enjoying the day. (We are still having cooler temps - it's been great!)

LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER WALK AROUND RUBIDOUX IN RIVERSIDE - FRONT PORCH POST
This is a walk I will take a few times in the fall and winter when I need a break from the mountains. Right now though, they will be approaching 100 plus in the next few days and into next week.
I took these photos on a walk on February 6, 2009 - and just starting editing the folder.
Riverside is an area we use to walk in quite a bit and also would hike up Rubidoux mountain where when you reached the top there would be a cross.
And on another note. Ever since Father's Day when I was looking at photos of my dad I have been missing his cartoons. After my mom died my father and I and sometimes my sister Laura - would send cartoons to each other. My dad was a pretty talented artist and I think of all his paintings and drawings he did - the most enjoyment I would get out of them were his cartoons. A lot of times he would draw on the outside of an envelope he was sending to me with a letter inside. I've mentioned this in the past on either this blog or other blogs I have since taken off line and in fact have probably posted this cartoon before. But I'm feeling sentimental about him today so thought I would post this again.
He was making fun of my loving to read back in the day - I would read even while cooking if I was into a good novel - standing at the stove - book in one hand and watching and stirring whatever needed to be at the time. He lived with us for awhile and definitely witnessed my obsession with books...and he always made me look so attractive in his cartoons, lol. Not sure what son this one is portraying as all my sons are 6' and over. This one looks pretty short.
