BLUE CUT FIRE

Another wildfire in the San Bernardino mountains is raging again - just this last week there was the "Pilot" fire which I think was actually called "fully contained" today.  Two days ago the "Blue Cut" fire broke out which has resulted in 80,000 (or more by now, )people being evacuated from the high desert and the main artery area going to Las Vegas (Cajon Pass) - and the whole town of Wrightwood has been evacuated (I lived there prior to moving here a few years ago- small pretty town).  Both times we haven't had to deal much with any smoke thank God - because the wind direction blows it in a different direction.  Again, we aren't directly threatened at all which I am so happy about.  I feel for those in the line of action.  A lot of structures have been burned in the high desert and from what I can tell Wrightwood will probably not burn because there is a large area of flat desert before you get up to Wrightwood that will allow them to stop the fire (hopefully).

Anyway some recent scenes

this was the first scene as the fire started in Devore

I've been giving a lot of thought to how sensible is it to live in the mountains with the ongoing drought we are having .  There are so few routes out of the mountains that when evacuation occurs it becomes a deadlock parking lot.  Imagine being caught up in this.

they've told everyone fire personel to get the hell out of lytle creek - it's going fast to there..

The fire has been on the national news here in the UK & it looks terrifying. It seems to move so fast & even crosses big motorways.
We rarely get problems with fire here, mostly floods!

Glad you're safe!

they say it's the fastest spread they've seen (fire people that is)...It looks like so far Lytle Creek and Wrightwood have been spared - kudos to such great fire fighters.

I can't even imagine how terrifying that must be to those who live nearby. I've been hearing about it on the news and thinking of you. I'm glad you are safe.
