BLACK AND WHITE AT STRAWBERRY PEAK

Earlier in the day we went over to the Lake for the Classic Car show and enjoyed that.  Later in the day, because it was crowded at the lake - we decided to go to Strawberry Peak for a late afternoon walk.  When we got there I decided to put the setting on my camera to black and white for the walk up to the peak.  I took a lot of photos but many of them just looked dull - too many trees and leaves.  I needed more space and as we arrived up to the top I found more of what I was looking for.  I'm anxious to try some more in black and white mode.   I'm not sure what makes an appealing black and white photo and will start reading up on that.

Sometimes the forest is too green for a good photo - especially in the lower elevations where the tree are more abundant.  When you get to the peak - due to fires in this area at one time the growth is more sparse and it makes for a better photo (in my opinion).    Not shown yet were several areas where it looked like a Christmas tree farm - beautiful spruces and one of my favorites (blue spruce) were young and healthy and looked perfect.  The mountains around here have had their fair share of fires but it makes them ultimately more beautiful.

It was around 5:30 and the sun was still high in the sky.

Coming back down at the end of the trip up to the peak was this stand of trees with a lone car parked.  I liked the setting.

Beautiful b&w photography.

I get that urge sometimes tooooo, but am not able to deal with it, like you can! :-)

Are you familiar with blogs, which just show b&w? I remember an interesting one, long ago.

Classic Car Show! Oh my husband would love, love, love that.

Hi Tesa - not familiar with blogs that show just B&W - i'll check on that, thanks.

The cars at the show were awesome. My favorites were some of the trucks and a blue jeep!

Neat photos. Some of these look a little spooky in the black and white, and others make them look like they are from the past. I like them.

I really like your b & w photos! There are quite a few that are amazing and you will probably find that you just have a natural sense about what makes a good b & w photo.
