(Mama cat in the background in a box and Beanie inside looking out)
Through all the cold weather and snow we have had - Mama Cat has been perfectly safe and seemingly warm in a box we put towels in and placed on a glass table where she can look in the window. This table sits under our wide roof that covers that part of the deck so she stays dry and out of the rain. We know when she is hungry as she says "food" or so it looks like which is probably just her mouth making "meow" sounds. She is right by the door and at night she can look in.
Sometimes I feel like animals must feel when being observed by humans in a zoo. She seems to be entertained by everything we do inside. She still won't come to us except she will get close when we put her food out and we have even petted her on her back but I'm pretty sure if we tried to grab her she would remove our hand very quickly. She really is part of the family although she wants nothing to do with us up close. She still runs if we appear to be walking towards her. She probably wonders why, when we escape our containment (to go have fun or shop) ...we actually willingly go back in.
Here is Beanie looking out the window and Mama cat watching Beanie and I. Sometimes when she lies in her box we can just see her eye looking out at us through the hole.

Excellent post and pictures! I love seeing mama cat so comfortable and peering through the peephole into the house at you guys and Beanie looking out. Love it!!
I mailed the check about a week ago. Don't forget to check the mail.
oh sandy.
isn't she wonderful!
peering at you through HER tiny window into YOUR window.
I wonder if you put one of those backpacking metallic blankets under her blanket in the box if it would make it warmer for her.
that wouldn never work where we live. if it ever does rain it never just comes straight down!
that box would be soaking wet in no time flat. :)
i'm glad she can stay dry!
Hi L will check tomorrow. we were out all day and didn't stop byto check.
Tammy - that's a good idea. Might check into that. We already had fixed her up a cozy space farther down the deck where we had a table and then put plastic cloth over it to come down to the ground, secured it by several gallon water bottles which were filled so it wouldn't blow up - put a rug and an old pillow in there and she used it quite a bit but then seemed to want to be closer to the activity in the house as she would sit on the table - first we put towels on the table to pad it and for a couple weeks she slept there all the time and then waited for her breakfast in the morning and then I thought seeing how cats like boxes i'll fix her box up there and she really loves it now.
Ahhh bless her. It's lovely that you look after her so well. They do love boxes, must give them a sense of security.
Awww!!! I am so happy she found you Sandy!! Thank you for taking care of her!! Hugs!
thanks everyone.
