WHAT A REMINDER OF THESE FILMS FROM THE PAST

This is a long video but I really enjoyed it.

HOLIDAY WEEKEND

I feel like a walk in Claremont today but that would mean fighting traffic that is up and down the mountain this holiday weekend.  Last night was the fireworks show here at Lake Gregory.

Lake Gregory's fireworks show was last night.

Lake Arrowhead's show is tonight.

Big Bear Lake show is tomorrow.

and I'm staying home and avoiding traffic jams - it is absolutely crazy up here.

The orioles have returned and I'm really hoping I'll see them again today and that the fireworks loud display (boom boom for 20 minutes) didn't scare them away.

I would love to see the fireworks in Big Bear but it will be way too crowded to try and go up there however, we did get up there this last Thursday.  It was beautiful and even started to rain right as we were leaving.

Every so often I go through this - especially if I don't eat enough caterpillars.  Flies are great but they aren't high in fiber.

I'm sure by tomorrow I'll be back to normal.

We spent several hours with Mac and Jake the other day and when we dropped them off I was able to get a photo of them with their cousin.  His birthday was June 23, Mac was June 25th.

Remember this day.  I was going through old photos and realized I hadn't thought much about my old house until I saw this - ...  This was the day of E's baby shower and the "scene" made me remember all the weddings and showers and parties we had here.  I do miss my atrium.


This is a memorable week - three grandkids have birthdays this week - ...Chloe, MacKenzie who's birthday is today and Cayden whose birthday is 27th.   Happy Birthday to my 3 grandkids.

LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER WALK AROUND RUBIDOUX IN RIVERSIDE - FRONT PORCH POST

This is a walk I will take a few times in the fall and winter when I need a break from the mountains.  Right now though, they will be approaching 100 plus in the next few days and into next week.

I took these photos on a walk on February 6, 2009 - and just starting editing the folder.

Riverside is an area we use to walk in quite a bit  and also would hike up Rubidoux mountain where when you reached the top there would be a cross.
 

And on another note.  Ever since Father's Day when I was looking at photos of my dad I have been missing his cartoons.  After my mom died my father  and I and sometimes my sister Laura - would send cartoons to each other.   My dad was a pretty talented artist and I think of all his paintings and drawings he did - the most enjoyment I would get out of them were his cartoons.  A lot of times he would draw on the outside of an envelope he was sending to me with a letter inside.  I've mentioned this in the past on either this blog or other blogs I have since taken off line and in fact have probably posted this cartoon before.  But I'm feeling sentimental about him today so thought I would post this again.

He was making fun of my loving to read back in the day - I would read even while cooking if I was into a good novel - standing at the stove - book in one hand and watching and stirring whatever needed to be at the time.   He lived with us for awhile and definitely witnessed my obsession with books...and he always made me look so attractive in his cartoons, lol.  Not sure what son this one is portraying as all my sons are 6' and over.  This one looks pretty short.

I'M RIDICULOUS - WHEN IT'S HOT - I WANT IT COLD - WHEN IT'S COLD I WANT IT WARM

When it's Spring time and everything is in bloom I look forward to the colors of Fall.

and today I would love to see some snow again.  It's not really that hot but I find summer kind of boring weather wise.  Even the birds are eating much - at least at the feeders - they are probably eating a lot of bugs that are flying around.

I still have SO SO SO many photos of snow I took this last winter.

A DAY IN FEBRUARY WHERE MY GRANDSON WAS TEACHING "BEANIE" TO WALK ON A LEASH

Hunter leaves this coming Tuesday to return to his dad's home which is now in Montana.  He has been here 14 months almost to the day.  It's bittersweet in a way.  I'll miss him for sure but glad he will be with the person he loves the most and we will return to our retired way of life.  He finished 8th grade yesterday and is now heading into high school.  The thing I won't miss for sure is raising a teenage boy through high school.

I've been looking through photos I took along the way while he was here and I love this one.

As most kids at his age .... his follow through isn't the best.  He just had to have a cat, and then a collar and leash because he was going to teach Beanie to walk on a leash.  This is the one and only day he ever took her out for a walk.

This period of time will appear like a flash of light in the dark when I look back a few years from now and remember the time our grandson lived with us.

We watched him quite a bit when he was little - and after he was born he lived at our house for two years.  His best friend at the time was his dog Baron and his cockatiel that his mom bought around the time he was born.   The bird followed him everywhere and Hunt would play with her all the time.

He tried to give the bird a girlfriend but the bird kept knocking her over.

Two of my favorite photos is when he fell asleep in the car.  He had been playing with his gummy type hand and I'm still trying to find out how the hand creeped down his neck and spread its' fingers while he was sleeping.

BEAUTIFUL HOME IN CORONA, CA

Most of my adult life I never knew Corona had a historical district.  We took a drive out there one day and found many beautiful houses.  This is one of them and when the weather cools off in fall I'd like to go out for another walk through the area.

THE LOCAL TATTOO SHOP AND METAPHYSICAL STORE

 I've never stopped in to check it out but this is the place for tattoos here in town.  Maybe I'll get a tattoo soon .. like that will ever happen.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS - CRESTLINE

I was doing a search on something and realized the little town I live in has hardly any photos on line.
I figured I would post a photo once in awhile of a local business.  This building is part of Alpine Mall in town.

The banner photo is from Gilmore Girls  - Netflix is doing Gilmore Girls revival - can't wait.   I think Stars Hollow (fictional) would be the perfect town to live in.

SOME SANTA BARBARA CALIFORNIA PHOTOS

On my last trip to the coast, on the way up we had a cup of coffee and walked through town.  I love this beautiful city's architecture which is mostly Spanish Colonial  and Mission Revival style.  (I looked that up on Wiki).  I have lots of photos of this area and need to get some up for my "memory" book - meaning I can look back and remember this gorgeous day and trip to the coast.  This scene was at the top of a tiled stairway.

This trip was at the end of January and if I remember correctly it must have been beautiful weather - about in the low 70's.  This is a destination I would like to come back to and actually spend a few days.

Walking through town I had to stop and get some photos of this Italian pottery shop.  

Even their Alley ways are beautiful.

Below we are heading towards the entrance of the courthouse.  I managed to get some awesome photos of the inside which I will post later.
