After it snowed the other day we took a drive up - about 20 minutes or so and came to the pond which was covered in snow and ice. It was so beautiful.
I love the way the house I'm showing is situated on the edge of the pond.
I took a photo of this house - because I thought the windows were interesting.
On the way home down the mountain it was the kind of day where you could see the Pacific Ocean from the Rim of the mountains. If you look close you can even spot some of the oil platforms that are way out there.
We can't always see the ocean from the mountains - the sun has to hit just right for it to show up.
If we were to drive there - it would be over an hour away with no traffic and a couple hours if the freeways were busy.
It's so cool that we have a view of the ocean from up here.
The three spots out in the middle are the oil platforms.
I had to zoom my camera all the way to get this shot and never thought I'd see the platforms from this far away.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I actually didn't know that one could see the ocean from the mountains (in clear air and certain light)! That's amazing to me. I love the snow pics, especially the one of the pond at the top of the photos. I would like to crunch some snow underfoot for a few minutes and then go get warm! ;)
I was surprised when we first moved here and saw it for the first time on a clear day.
Their 'own' pond... -happy sigh-
My aunt and uncle, who lived at near the top of Arcadia, used to be able to see the Pacific Ocean on a really clear day. Great views!

I felt peaceful just looking at those snow scenes. What a lovely setting, wish I was there right now!!! ;-)
Have a lovely Sunday, hugs, G
Beautiful photos, Sandy! Lovely sunset view too. We didn't get any snow this past weekend. It dodged us and went north.
each time i come to this site i do ctrl + at least once and sometimes twice ... to make the pictures even larger.
it's as if i could walk right into them.
i've never been one to have a bucket list. ever.
but i think i have one now.
i want to visit this area someday before i die! i've never even been to california.
but the pacific northwest has always been in my dreams. thank you for this blog sandy.
it's just beautiful.
i'm going to play catchup now. i'm always a day or two late! XO♥
Thanks Geraldine. Soon I'll be having some ocean views for a few days!
Thanks Daisy! Wondering if you were glad you didn't get snow. I'm a little hesitant to say I want snow - i don't know what El Nino will bring us out here - ...i hope more rain than snow. Have a great Thanksgiving - ...wondering if yours boys are coming home.
thanks Tammy! I remember you wrote you will have a quiet day - hope it's peaceful and enjoyable for you - and if you wish for rain or snow I hope you get it! It is beautiful in some areas out here - ... just a slight correction - we are Pacific Southwest - and the Northwest is more beautiful than here but then there is the central Coast which is awesome and where I'll be soon!!
