CLAREMONT, CALIFORNIA - SUNSET MAGAZINE AND DAILY FRONT PORCH

Back to post another front porch in the series.  I was surprised recently when I got my February (or was it January)  ..Sunset magazine.  Claremont was featured again in one of their sections.  I've probably posted front porch photos from Claremont more than other towns around here.  I love that town.

Here is a house I take photos of every time I walk through the area.  These photos were from a few years back.

NOTE:  I am leaving a link here for a post by Tammy who runs a blog Peanut on the Table.  I love her writing and I read this post by her today about her Sea Captain brother who is quite a guy and well...  maybe you could go read it - so thought I would share
 Here is the LINK.

And then for a lot of color - This is a street in Atascadero - which is above San Luis Obispo going up the 101 North - ... and since I'm going to be up at my sister's starting Monday for about a week I'm hoping we can walk through this town again - this pic was taken from the car as we didn't stop to walk on our last visit.  We did walk in a beautiful area Santa Margarita which is near this town and I still have a lot of photos from there to post eventually.

I don't know why but it looks like I was on the sidewalk when I took this - but I wasn't - the store must have been on a corner judging from the curve of the sidewalk.  When I see this photo it reminds me that since I will be up there for awhile at my sister's, maybe she can "reteach" me a little bit about crochet.  She learned years and years ago and I have one of her afghans and would I would like to learn again.  I'm not good with online tutorials i think because I'm left handed.

Hey sis, do you still remember the basics - i know it was probably 25 years ago you crocheted.

And as a reminder to myself that I have a lot more of these beautiful pelicans to post I'll put the first one up here.  This was near Avila Beach, Ca - again, near where my sister lives.

I get to see a whole lot of them next week!

Hi Sandy :)

I had the best time catching up with you and seeing all the places I used to go when I lived in California. I used to pass through your town all the time to go skiing and I always thought it was so cute. That house in Claremont is beautiful. I don't blame you for taking pictures of it every time you see it :)

I hope you're enjoying the New Year.

xo,
rue

Hahaha...Sandy, I crocheted forty some years ago...in the seventies. I started when pregnant with Erin. Yes, it's been THAT long!!

I was able to kind of show Erin how to do a couple stitches, but she had her instructions with her and I could kind of remember the feel of it all. Not sure about real details of it though. I assume I could relearn with instructions if my brain isn't too old and tired and confused. lol

I love that house in Claremont and it doesn't surprise me that Claremont gets featured often in Sunset or probably even anything that talks about places to visit in So. CAL.

I'm sure that shot in Atascadero was as we rounded a corner...you were on the right hand side of the car and probably had the window open, so you would have been pretty close to it to get a clear shot.

Pelicans...that is a wonderful shot of the pair of them!

It is SO beautiful right now and the temp is so comfortable. I will be hoping for some high clouds at least because the conditions for photography would be better that way. You should be able to see so much more since you will be here longer. I'm looking forward to it.

It sounds like you have a lot of fun in store visiting that beautiful area, seeing the pelicans and maybe getting some crocheting tips from your sister.

I hope you have a nice visit with your sister. These photos are beautiful. I love the windows in the white house. Looks like they might be stained glass.

What a beautiful house Sandy, I love those red tile roofs and the Spanish style.

And I just LOVE your new header, how pretty! The snow is almost gone, here in Interior BC but I think we'll be having one more blast before spring.

Hope you have a great week, hugs, G
