Elk Lake is situated near the South Sisters, Broken Top and Mt. Bachelor mountain ranges. When we were in Bend at the beginning of May we took a day trip here. Although there was still snow on the ground as we drove up most of it had melted at the lake and the temps were fairly warm. What a gorgeous place to spend a few hours.
Mac learned how to skip rocks - they all enjoyed balancing on the felled (Is felled a word?) tree trunks and I walked around while they were down at the shore line taking some pics.
It hardly seems like a month has passed since we were there.
Found out my oldest son will be moving to an area around Gig Harbor, Washington. I've googled it and will be excited to visit the area. They live in San Francisco but just sold their home and will be moving around the middle of July. I'm glad my kids move to beautiful places (..well two sons do the other two live within an hour of where we live).

Beautiful photos! So they sold their home?!! Have they found the next one or are they still looking? I have also googled Gig Harbor and it looks so nice there!
Lovely area. And I like the name too. Elk Lake.
Best of luck to the son who is leaving San Francisco, for what has to be a much more beautiful area!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes they did - and a good deal at that - they are up there this weekend looking at houses they had on a list - some near Port Orchard...Gig Harbor around that area. It looks beautiful! Will be a nice place to visit
Hi Tessa - they had a nice ihouse in the area of Mill Valley up in the Bay area - I will miss that area because it was kind of forest-y but with a view of the Bay. Where they are going to move looks great - I'll be looking forward to it. thanks for the well wishes for them.
Wow, what a gorgeous place! The kids look like they are having a lot of fun. I like seeing kids out enjoying nature like that.
