Getting rid of "stuff" is good and boy, did I get rid of stuff when we sold and moved from our big house. I sent so much away to thrift stores, gave away stuff on FreeCycle - never tried to sell any of it - just wanted to live lighter and freer. I haven't regretted it too much but once in awhile I can't figure out why I would have tossed something in the trash or gave it away.
For instance I had wind chimes - several on a wood holder 3 foot long tubes that would play a deep ringing chime - ..I loved to listen to them in the wind and they were expensive. They're gone now and I can't find them. I guess I sent them away.
I had two of these bird cages. I use to place them around the yard and then wait and one day I actually caught this bird inside it. And it appeared he had taken it over and wasn't really feeling it...when it came to company.
I wish I still had them. But I trashed them - it was just more stuff I didn't want to move.
If you are planning on moving it is great to down size and get rid of stuff, but take a deep breath and give yourself a moment to know absolutely you're ready to let it go. There's just a few things I wish I had done that with and one of them is a really nice high patio table with four tall chairs - i simply gave away to my son's room mate at the time. I would love to have that now.
And then again - the next time I move - I'll probably get rid of more stuff that is just taking up space. I've posted these before on my nature blog but I resized them and worked to make them look brighter than they were. I had saved them off in a real small format and they were dark.
the first pic is a random bird and i don't know if he went inside the cage or not because i don't have pics of it and don't remember.

a different take, on simplifying... ,-)
WOW!
I saw that capcha' thing, when I wanted to comment here. click to prove you're not a robot, and type a word. grrrrrr...
but I did not pay any attention to it. I simply clicked on Publish. and it worked~~~~
WOW!
dumb me has been "playing by the rules" and doing the stuff, I have been asked to do...
and I didn't have to!!!
but~~~ where does that "reCAPCHA" thing come from??? did you put it on your blog....? to make people do it, so they can comment on your blog???
It took me a while to just bypass that robot thing and click on publish! I'd be surprised if she put it there on purpose. Sometimes random things seem to happen in Blogger.
Love that first photo of the bird heading for the cage...just hope it didn't crash into it! lol. I wish I'd gotten those chimes...wonder what you did with them. The only chimes I like are the deep sounding ones.
I live in such a small place now I don't have any regrets about the stuff I disposed of or gave away. In fact, I've probably forgotten what I used to have anyway! ;)
I had nothing to do with that capcha thing - i dont' even know what it is...i'll have to see if it shows up when i comment.
Oh Sandy....do I ever know what you mean. I wish I had a few things that I was sure needed to get rid of.
I love those bird cages. Beautiful birds too.
Sandy, I also got rid of many things on our move a few years ago , some things I also wish I had kept!
Wonderful shots of the birds and bird cages ...
Love your photos, know how you feel when i left my house I forgot my bird cage where I always left the door open to mean freedom, and I left it and so many photos, and things i would give anything to get bck like my porcelain bird bath but these I didn't have time to take because i moved so fast and if I try to get it back from the yard he calls the cops, so I will ask him again if he'll give back at least my golden cage, but he never responds to my call, so i say buy new everything for your new place..and love them as much!
I've realized too that the more I move the more things I get rid of. You somehow realize you don't need such things anymore. Simplicity is the way to do it. :)
Lovely bird cage here though.
thanks all for your comments.
These photos are great! It's hard to know sometimes what you'll need and what you won't in the future.
