It was a gorgeous day and we went up to look at some property that my husband's father owned - to see how it is looking. The area has really built up in the Joshua Tree Yucca Valley area. I could not believe they have a big mall...of course...a Walmart - and Home Depot, etc. Yucca Valley is quite a big city now. I took a lot of photos through the area and even as far up as 29 Palms - an area we would travel often back in the 70's when we would visit my parents who retired along the Colorado River in Arizona.
Here is one pic that stood out as we drove through some of the areas.
There is a lot of old west desert influence still and I enjoyed more than anything, photographing some of the old buildings.
It's quite a popular area now for touristy antique shopping - even more so than back in the day. There was a lot of driving - it took about an hour and half or so to get there - then the same to get home (even longer because of a traffic accident) ...why we seem to take out on holiday weekends is something I'll never figure out - do WE NOT KNOW this is So Cal and everybody leaves on a holiday weekend.

We just came back home from a drive to the mountains ...there was lots of holiday traffic here too!

Hahaha...I can't figure it out either...why you take out on holiday weekends with all the traffic! However, I'm enjoying the shots you took and it sounds like there are a lot of changes up there. Would be interesting to see sometime.
