I was having a hard time identifying what kind of bird this is. I posted a pic at a forum where people are knowledgeable. So, possibly it's a grosbeak - immature grosbeak or something like that.

Nice...I saved this one off too.
I have no idea but I'll go along with the knowledgable ones. Do you have any peanut butter or honey and seeds smeered on the pine cones?

Old post, but... Female Black-headed Grosbeak, "Pheucticus elanocephalus". She does not look "scruffy" enough for a juvenile.
