I liked this little house so much I had to get lots of angles. I recently posted a house that was similar to this in color - maybe the green was deeper but the red around the windows looks about the same.
We are having really heavy breezes today and the leaves that are ready to fall are dancing in the yard.
We are heading out later to go to a place called Lake Arrowhead Bar and Grill - the reason being - they have a delicious "artic pizza" - white alfredo sauce and good toppings - but also because recently "Restaurant Impossible" came into the place and redid it. I liked it before they changed it up but we did stop in last week and thought it looked nice and the food was still good. We would watch it at home but we recently got rid of Charter and went to other subscriptions so we won't probably see this episode. Thursday is 3 dollars off beer - so that's also a draw, lol.
Stopped by Lake Arrowhead on the way home and i loved the peaceful look across the lake
Pretty little female blackbird at the lake.
Driving through Blue May on the way back - I realized - we have MacDonald's in three mountain towns up here. The one in Blue Jay is across from the theater, one in Big Bear and our MacDonalds where we live.
No other fast food around (except in Big Bear), other than MacDonald's.
The cats are getting chubby, especially the gray one - who is the only one right now I could probably get a hold of and bring inside - but the mother would probably claw my face off. The gray one is fearless but the black one is very timid and wary.
At least there is a solution for the snow and cold if we can't get them inside - Down below as I'm pointing the camera at my neighbor's house with the two decks, right across from them in that blue building - that is a carport enclosed on three sides. They are known to feed all the animals in the area that come by and even to put out a heating pad on a chair near their front door in winter - so I guess these little ones can find shelter at least for awhile.
I believe they make the rounds everyday between my house, the house with the decks and the blue house across from that house - they disappear every day and Cari, my neighbor, tells me she sees the cats down there at times.
I don't know why I fret or worry - heck feral cats have survived for years through cold winters. Once a mom, always a mom, I guess could describe my concern.

These (little) homes are precious. Only problem, to me, is that fact of so many trees. None can get much sunlight. That would be hard, for me. But obviously not, for those who live here.
I so don't envy your worry about the cats. I get way too involved with such, if I let myself. So now, I have to not let myself. -sigh-

I actually wish the sun wouldn't shine so brightly in my windows off the back deck in the summer - it's way too much and I have to put up a covering over the shades I have - it's blinding when we try to eat anywhere from 4 to 6 or so in the afternoon. I definitely prefer lots of trees but that's probably because the mountains are where my heart is. All those trees give me a lot more coolness in the summer so I put up with less sunlight in the winter. The Santa Ana winds kicked up overnight - which they usually do this time of year - strong winds all night - I looked out this morning and I guess the kittens found some where to stay out of the wind storm overnight. Haven't seen them yet today - they are usually waiting for me to give them their morning meal.
When it comes to houses, I definitely veer towards cozy. As for trees, I think the most beautiful sound on earth, even better than Mozart or Bach, is wind in the mountains, blowing through a pine forest.
Trees are everything to me...sun is not! We seem to have one season for the last four years, and that is endless sunny, hot days, most days windy, and it's so desert like yet we live on the coast! Damn the endless drought!!
Anyway, the photos are wonderful and the kittens are so cute! Enjoy your arctic pizza and beer!
Just remembered to tell you: Tides are so high that on Pismo Beach we were not only walking ON the beach but also IN the ocean. The tide is extremely high and is flooding the beaches. We were walking along and a rogue wave came in and chased us into an inland lake that was cutting the beach in half...it ran through the middle of the beach.

What a charming house, and I love the view too!
Your pictures are gorgeous as always. I love the kitties and understand your worry about the cold weather. They usually know how to survive though. Here, the coyotes are the biggest threat to cats, which is one reason I don't have any now.
thanks Inger - ...the momma came back to eat tonight but the kittens weren't with her...so I'm wondering what happened to them.
thanks Daisy! Wondering if in your neighborhood you get lots of kids - we don't get any on Halloween night.
thanks ...pizza, beer and the show were good. Fun watching the owners (parents) and their son who called on Restaurant impossible to help his parents.
wow that is some high tide! wish i could see it. did you get pics.
oh yes, you're right - i agree about the wind through the pines - better than music - to hear the silence at night except for a few animals and the trees.
i have started worrying about the feral kitties the moment they appeared.
can't help it.
i'm a worrier.
it's just in my dna about animals. people... not as much.
good grief! wonder what THAT says about me? LOL.
i love the little side terrace on that cottage. and the stone on the fireplace. oh my.
These are all lovely photos and your new header is GORGEOUS!!!
I worry about animals on the streets too, especially here in Canada where the climate can get very extreme in winter.
I hope you have a lovely weekend Sandy! :-)
Glad u like my header Geraldine - I stopped at a nursery and all their trees were in bloom i had fun taking lots of photos. I imagine most animals find a way to survive - The kittens still haven't shown up - it's been all day yesterday and now this morning. The momma did come by to eat last night but no kittens.
i kind of relate Tammy - I seem to worry more about animals also at times...so yeah I get it, lol.
